Conservation-Minded Fundraising Event

At Mt. Whitney Fish Hatchery in Independence, California, we want to share our hatchery's history for years to come. In an effort to continue educating both locals and tourists alike, we host an annual fundraising dinner. If you're interested in conserving the local history, join us for a delectable meal and show-stopping entertainment.

The 100-year Celebration was held on August 19, 2017, at the Mt Whitney Fish Hatchery. Can you believe that the hatchery opened for operation in 1917? We had a huge crowd that joined in the celebration (est. 400=/-) with some individuals reunited after years apart. Old stories were shared and good times were had by all. It was a terrific event and having this facility in such great condition after 100 years is just SPECIAL. We are committed to preserving this facility indefinitely and look forward to our annual celebrations each August.

P.S. Ms. Sue Tagnetti of Granite Bay, CA, was the very happy winner of the Quilt this year.

Annual Friends of the Fish Hatchery Dinner

During our annual dinner, we treat supporters to scrumptious food and live music. Throughout the event, speakers give a history of the hatchery along with an update of the year's events. For just $15, guests can feast on barbecued tri-tip, beans, green salad, vegetarian spaghetti, and garlic bread. We even have brownies for dessert.

In addition to tasty treats, we also offer both live and recorded music. You won't want to miss our winning entertainment—a duo that performs a 2-hour set of old-timey western music. This year's dinner is scheduled for August 19, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
